Over the past couple of years there have been several methods of tee selections and handicap calculations for tournament play for both Club events and MGA events.  After meeting with the Chestatee Golf Club Handicap Committee and our golf professionals, we have defined a consistent methodology which will now be utilized for ALL tournament events, whether they are Club events or MGA events.

The intent of these changes is to create consistent criteria between Club events and MGA events and to create a level playing field as provided by the USGA Handicap System.

Here is the process that will be used for tee assignments for all Chestatee club and MGA golf tournaments:

  1. The majority tee utilized by the player for the 10 lowest golf scores used in calculating the player’s handicap index will be the designated tee for any given tournament.

  2. If the 10 lowest scores are comprised of five scores from one set of tees and five scores from another set (e.g. five of the player's 10 lowest scores were from the White tees and the other five lowest scores were from the Member tees) that are used in the index calculation, the tees with the highest tee rating will be designated as the tournament tee for that player.

  3. Players will no longer be selecting their tee for tournaments; the player will be assigned the tournament tee based upon the two criteria listed above.

Here is the process that will be used for tee assignments for all Chestatee club and MGA golf tournaments:

  1. The player’s most recent revision handicap index will be used to determine their handicap based upon the tee rating of their assigned tee.

  2. Tournament flights will be determined by handicap.

  3. Players who are in the same flight but playing from different tees will have their handicaps adjusted based upon the tee rating differential.
